FAQs

At what age can my child start?

Children can enroll starting at age 2. We are licensed for children up to 7 years old.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

No, and we will help and encourage those who need to achieve their potty training goals.

What is your teacher-to-student ratio?

The maximum number of children in one session is 21, which is a 7:1 ratio. Depending on the session, the ratio may be lower.

How much parent involvement is required?

Each family is required to have at least one parent serve on a committee, participate in fundraising activities, attend at least one school cleanup party and volunteer at school events.

Is there a set curriculum?

Because we know that all learning takes place in a social framework, and is affective as well as cognitive, our classroom environment must value and allow for individual differences and multiple forms of personal expression of moods, feelings and emotional needs. Your child will be free to choose what they want to do and where they would like to play according to individual preferences, interests and readiness.

Are snacks or lunch provided?

We do not provide snacks or lunch. Please send children to school with the food and water they will need for the day. We are a nut-free school.

How much fundraising does ACGS do and why?

Fundraising is an integral part of the operation of our school. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and our goal is to make early childhood education accessible by keeping tuition as low as possible.

Fundraising provides additional and necessary funds for our maintenance and development. We can only be successful if there is a commitment from every family in our community. We reach out for local support and to our alumni as well.

What is your approach to conflict and how do you handle discipline?

Children at ACGS share space, toys, tools and attention with other kids, so conflict is going to happen. When children express their feelings, we support them not only by genuinely hearing and holding space for them, but also by teaching them to listen to one another. Recognizing and communicating one's own feelings, while listening to and hearing how others are feeling in turn, are vital tools that we use to help guide children in recognizing their feelings and finding ways to cope with them. Every situation is a learning experience.

How do you keep parents updated?

We use the Brightwheel app to send parents updates and reminders. We also communicate via email and post updated about school activities on the News & Events section website. Additionally, there is a bulletin board outside the front door where certain sign-ups and flyers are posted.

Can I pick my child's schedule?

Yes. You can choose any combination of half, full or extended days to best fit your schedule. We require a minimum of 3 half days to enroll.

When do I need to apply?

We have rolling enrollment, so we accept applications year round and admit students based on availability in the schedule. If you know when you'd like your child to start, we recommend sending in your application early and joining our waitlist so we can prioritize your choice in schedule.

I like everything I've seen! How do I apply?

Thank you for your interest in our school! Please email enrollment@acgsschool.com to start the enrollment process.
