ACG&S is so much more than a school, it’s a community, a support system and a place to meet like minded Parents who care about education and giving their children the best start in life. It’s where you and your child will meet lifelong friends no matter what other schools they attend. Alumni kids come and help out during the summer session and Alumni Parents stay involved in the school years after they have graduated. They want to come back to this special little place they love. I’m not sure if that happens at other schools, but after my experience at a different preschool and from speaking to other parents I doubt it does. The Teachers are amazing so patient, caring, loving and knowledgeable about early childhood development. ACG&S is run by the Parents at the school each year all of which helps to foster a truly unique experience and school experience. What I love most of all is that they don’t do the orientation hype where you wait months just to go learn about the school. ACG&S is hardly a secret at all as it’s highly rated in many Preschool guides, but once your child starts here it feels like you hit the jackpot as it’s so much more than any book or overfull orientation could have explained. I didn’t even think I wanted to have to contribute to preschool as I am a busy working Mom but now that I am there I am on the Board and very active at the school. I’m so glad that some parent involvement is part of ACG&S and that you can get involved as much as you want to beyond the very minimal requirements. No matter how much or little you get involved you’ll find it helps you feel connected in a way that’s often difficult to find in such a big city and meet parents who will help and be there for you in so many ways.

ACGS is truly a magical, safe, nurturing environment that provided an amazing starting point for our sons education. The teachers are warm and caring, the space is cozy and safe, and the children are free to discover how to naviagate their feelings and social interactions in a positive way. The community is supportive and we have met many life long friends there. This is truly a gem of a school. Our son Luca still talks about it and even visits in the summer to be a honorary alumni 'teacher'.

I was driving our son Finn (ACGS class of 2008) home from school and he was talking to Claire (4 years old, ACGS class of 2011). He told her that she "...should really enjoy preschool because it was so much fun and all you had to do was play and dance and run and climb". And he told her that in second grade, things get hard. He said "You have to know things like 100 minus 76" and she replied indignantly "I know my numbers!" And he said "Like what?" and she said "Like 45!"
