Nestled in a Craftsman bungalow in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, All Children Great and Small was founded in 1983 by a group of dedicated parents and teachers who dreamed of a special place where young children could be respected for who they are.
The school’s mission is to provide a preschool community for young children and their families that celebrates diversity, nurtures self-expression and the process of discovery, and relishes the spirit of childhood. Children create their own learning with their curiosity, their inner needs, their feelings, their bodies and their minds as they take their first steps on a lifelong path of discovery and learning.
All Children Great and Small emphasizes experiential learning appropriate to the individual developmental levels of the children. Both the classroom and schoolyard are designed to further a child’s growth through play. Children practice and grow through play. They learn through active involvement in a variety of types of experiences and social interactions. Each day, the program is comprised of activities that foster learning with individual, small group and large group experiences. The teachers provide the carefully planned environment, general curriculum, materials, supervision, caring and support for children to grow and learn from the teachers, themselves and each other.
All Children Great and Small belongs to the children and families who attend it each year. It’s a child centered school with hands on learning that emphasizes intellectual, social and emotional engagement.
Our school is highly rated in the 2nd Editions of both “The Whitney Guide – The Los Angeles Preschool Guide for Parents” by Fiona Whitney and “Coping with Preschool Panic The Los Angeles Guide to Private Preschools” by Michelle Nitka, Psy.D.
